Coming Soon: The City of Newton has signed a provisional host community agreement with The Boston Garden’s Newton dispensary.

Newton, Massachusetts’ cannabis scene continues to grow with the anticipated opening of another adult-use dispensary. The Boston Garden’s Newton dispensary is working diligently with civic leaders to eventually restore the vacant the property that was the home of Loyal Companion pet store into a business that the community can once again be proud of and will breathe life into the local economy. The brand’s parent company, Nuestra, wouldn’t have it any other way. Their team has roots in both Newton and Boston. Another location is already open in Athol, Massachusetts.

Nuestra’s regulatory counsel operations expert Phil Silverman shared some of the company’s design and operational features of The Boston Garden’s Newton dispensary with residents at an online meeting in early 2021. He assured attendees that the business would have little effect on the area’s volume of traffic because many other businesses like it already exist – like nearby Garden Remedies and Redi. Additionally, they plan to reduce the impact their store would have on parking by creating a spacious lot at their 1185 Chestnut St. location for customers. A nearby lot will be leased for employee parking in which they will be shuttled from to before and after their shifts.

Unsightly long lines for The Boston Garden’s Newton dispensary that span around the block are highly unlikely. The company has designed their retail space to boast an impressive capacity for guest accommodation and plans to operate on an appointment-only model. A total of 40 customers can be in the store at one time – with 10 in the reception area and 30 on the sales floor. You can find additional confidence in their commitment to age verification. ID’s are checked both before entry and purchase to ensure legal and ethical transactions.

In addition to creating an estimated 15 employment opportunities, The Boston Garden’s Newton dispensary plans to five back to their community by contributing annually to Newton-based philanthropic organizations and donating staff time to local volunteer work.
