EVOKE of Dorchester’s Boston Dispensary

"A Hand Up, Not a Handout"

Coming Soon: As of January 2021, EVOKE of Dorchester’s Boston dispensary has signed a host agreement with the city. They continue to work with local and state authorities to prepare for an eventual opening.

The owner of 1102 Blue Hill Ave, Cleon M. Byron, plans on opening a cannabis retail store in the ‘A’ unit of his building (formerly Nu Look nail salon). He has requested a permit to sell cannabis to both 21+ customers and medical marijuana card holing patients at this location. Because approval of the host community agreement and permission from the CCC is still pending as well as other logistical hurdles, it is currently unknown when EVOKE of Dorchester’s Boston dispensary (also reported as Cannabis Industry of Dorchester’s Boston dispensary) will open their doors to the public.

Diversity is an integral element of EVOKE of Dorchester’s Boston dispensary’s business model. If approved, it would be one of the area’s first majority minority-owned cannabis operation. Their current staff consists of Veterans, urban entrepreneurs with hands on cannabis experience and real-estate experts. VP Carl O’Neal oversees business development and vendor relations. He built his cannabis industry knowledge the old-fashioned way – operating on the black market. He is excited to take advantage of the state’s social equity program that views his prior convictions as prerequisites. VP Devonta Davis handles regulatory compliance and quality control. He plans to use his academic experience (finance major) and skills he acquired in the military (advanced inventorying) to help this new cannabis venture thrive.

EVOKE of Dorchester’s Boston dispensary plans to give back to their community with programs like urban farming and by creating local work opportunities.

Once approved, EVOKE of Dorchester’s Boston dispensary plans to operate from 10:00am to 8:00pm daily. It is hard to predict what kinds of raw, infused or edible products will be on their menu once open, but their website promises, “the absolute highest quality cannabis-based products available in Massachusetts.”
