Barry Desruisseaux, who owns the car wash at this location, has already received approval from the town to convert his current business into Ironstone Express’s Uxbridge drive thru dispensary. The next step is obtaining a state license to operate a retail cannabis store.

Once open, we expect Ironstone Express’ Uxbridge drive thru dispensary to operate like existing drive-in dispensary models seen in Colorado. One such business is Tumbleweeds’ Parachute dispensary. Here, no one below the legal purchasing age is allowed on the property. Professionally dressed employees make their way to each vehicle and explain the days menu. The transaction takes place in a garage (formerly an automatic car wash) with the door closed for increased privacy. There is a counter/window, much like a fast-food restaurant, where money and cannabis are exchanged.

Already home to Caroline’s Cannabis Uxbridge dispensary, the Central Massachusetts town has been largely receptive to the cannabis industry. Many hope that Ironstone Express’ Uxbridge drive thru dispensary can do for their community what Tumbleweeds’ has done for Parachute, Colorado: breathe life into local businesses who were on the brink of collapse after their oil and gas industry left town. The novelty of a drive-in dispensary will surly be a road trip destination of cannabis enthusiasts on the East Coast and beyond. The ability to sit in one’s car while waiting for and purchasing cannabis is also of great benefit to those with debilitating conditions.
